| Not even a slither. Don't think it hugely benefits Wakey bar getting them back in the race to beat the drop. IIRC Salford & Cas are already past this stage?
No new ground for any club by franchise time 2011 so I'd ignore the lot as failed promises, and just review all other aspects. IMHO all this has done is maybe put more pressure on Salford & Cas and until more developments take place nothing more.

| Our competitors are the teams applying for a license in this league, Fax, Barrow, maybe Featherstone and they are our only competitors.
Wakefield are competing against Cas, Salford and a few other SL teams, but this doesn't affect us in the slightest and I wish Wakefield well in their search for a stadium. They were lucky to get a license last time but they were by no means the only ones nor the ones luckiest.
One team IS coming up from this division. Either they change the rules on the size of the league or one team IS going down. We're in the former category, they're in the latter and good luck to them staying up.

In a word, no.
The decision for the Championship clubs’ application is made in March. I doubt any of the stadiums planned by the doomed SL club (whoever that may be) will be beyond the remedial land clearance stage. Some clubs have been at this stage for two or three years.
So it makes no difference at all to Widnes. The moment the RFL said that a Championship club was to replace a Super League club, it became a contest for Super League clubs to prove they deserve to stay there against other Super League clubs. It makes no odds to us which club that is.
Personally, I still think it will be Wakefield. I reckon this has come a little late in the day for them and the timescales they now have to run to are unrealistic. I’m made up for their fans mind – it’s about time they had a bit of good news. It does put pressure on the likes of Salford and Castleford though, and these are the boards you need to ask this question on.

I agree with what everyone else has said about not affecting our chances, but it does seem to put Wakey on par with Salford and Castleford. Before todays news about the stadium and mystery donation, Wakey looked the weakest bid by far. They still look very vunerable but it at least gives their fans a bit of hope now.
Will be interesting to see what happens at Castleford. Whereas Wakey have been fairly upfront about their stadium application problems, the Cas Chief exec just seems to tell lie after lie. He's been giving the impression that their stadium is just around the corner for about 5 years. Dates come and go with no progress, but it doesn't stop him spinning the next story a few weeks later. I know there have been recent developments with Cas' stadium application to do with selling their old ground and regarding the land where the new stadium will be, but until their stadium is actually built I'd be very wary about believing anything he says.

April 2009: news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_l ... 012961.stm "all parties are committed to making it happen for 2011."
And they are just a few from a few minutes of googling

| Widnes will quite rightly be in SL in 2012. The RFl have said at least one team will go up if the criteria are met - you do by a country mile.
3 in the frame for the drop. If Salford continue at the prsent rate of progress it leaves Cas and wakey. The OPP for Wakey keeps them in the game. A no or even a delay on Friday woud have been game over. If the OPP has to go for a public inquiry then it will be game over as they will run out of time re licences.
If wakey can go straight for planning permission then they will close the gap on cas. It then comes down to where the stadiums are at in June July. I they are neck and neck on the stadium then Cas should get the nod ahead of wakey.
As a Giant fan I look forward to playing you in SL in2012.

No-one is anywhere until they're playing in a COMPLETED stadium.
All three of these clubs should have been kicked out. Unfortunately, there aren't any clubs to replace them bar one - Widnes.

Well considering wakey havn't got full planning and we havn't heard anything from cas for months, compare that with ours starting the actual build in 3 weeks with a company like peel holdings who KNOW how to get projects built, i would say were infront out of the 3.

| It's all talk Red League, were now on the next set of franchises and you havent even laid a brick.
You shouldnt be in Super League, both Cas and Wakey are bigger clubs.
