It's been the worst kept secret in the game that he's been signed for 2026 for over two weeks now but his early release for this season and the settlement has been the sticking point. One things for sure none of us were surprised when the NRL hoovered him up from Huddersfield and he's certainly a real talent with his best years to come. You have to congratulate our new owners for putting their money where their mouth is and backing our recruitment drive and settling his contract to get an immediate release. After so much heartache and hand wringing for all of us last season it's certainly heartening for us all as we continue to build. But most of all well done Richie Myler this has taken some pulling off and shows that whatever happens in the near future, long term as far as our clubs standing in the rankings of 'Big Clubs' are concerned, it looks like we can start to believe again that the 'FC are Back" Great news.
You certainly have to hand it to Thirkill & Hood who since buying to club from Adam have really stood up in providing the necessary tools/funds required to start to turn the club around. Again a big shout out to Adam who deserves a huge amount of credit for bringing Myler in as DOR and ensuring he left the club in good and trusted hands so we aren't in a Salford situation.As for Myler, despite some concern as to his credentials as a DOR, he has certainly shown he is up to the job in hand and has already changed the club and squad beyond expectation in such a short time with some great recruitment. It can't have been an easy sell when he came it but his efforts in the role seem to be paying off.
Think the addition of Cartwright for me has been almost like a linchpin, with his experience at the highest level in the game and well respected he has brought and created what seems a real and genuine team ethos and his ability to communicate and get his messages across to the players again is no doubt another reason we are looking a more attractive prospect.
I also think the addition of the likes Sezer, Hardaker and Rapana along with Asiata can not be understated as to what they have brought to the club, I was dubious about Sezer but I'm happy to have had my doubts proven wrong.
If someone would have said we'd be 2 or 3 from 6 during pre season I'd have taken that, but it's unbelievable to be 4-1-1 after 6 along with the announcements on recruitment, the future is certainly a bright one words from the club are and have been backed up by action.
