A few more performances like vs saints and some consistency at SL level would go a long way to convincing me though.
I'm the same with Atoni. Unfortunately he was poor last time he was in SL, he needs to show he's moved on from that.
Give over. He started very tentatively but hit some good form or moved on as you say, once Fifita took him under his wing.

He was poor 2/3 of the season and improved the last 1/3 of the season. A season which we still finished rock bottom and got relegated.
I want to see some consistent good performances from Atoni before I make my mind up about him.
What exactly is wrong with that?
He has a lot to prove at SL level especially after our last time here in 2023.
I think the 'give over' was aimed at the bit before your post about, ' he was poor last time he was in SL'. As most agree once he got some backup in the middle he finished pretty strong in 2023.
TBf To Atoni, like plenty of guys that arrive from down under, he started slowly and to add to that he was in a poor team, all over the place in structure, quality and confidence. When he got some extra help in the middle when Fifita arrived, we saw him get more & more confidence and he finished the last 10 games or so off well imo he showed he was a SL-quality player. I think he's improved since then, even taking into account the comp last year, under DP and the guys, he's got fitter, finds his front more, rather than milking every meter and cracks on and plays the ball quicker than when he first arrived. For me, it's just about injuries and keeping his form consistent, if he does that he's a quality Prop, who I haven't got many doubts about. |

Interesting because Jayden sees himself as a Centre and that’s where he wants to play.
Hes happy to play anywhere but in the long term he wants to establish himself at Centre

| The Avenger: Shifty Cat: Not a rumour, and I decided not to start a new thread for it but news - Neil Tchamambe has signed a two-year contract that will keep him at the club until the end of the 2027 season.
So along with Jayden Myers, that's 2 young wingers we've got signed up for the next few years. You get a feeling and it's just that, it may be Walmsley's last year, especially as we need quota space next season for Smoothy. As much as I like Walmsley and he always gives 100%, he does seem to be the obvious guy to make way. Saying that he'll have no problems getting another contract if we do decide to not renew, either at another SL club or more likely one of the top Champ clubs.
Jayden Myers is a Centre, played 45 games with only 16 of those being as a winger and they were fairly early on in his 1st grade appearances.
Your point is still a good one though, we have
Myers at 21
Pratt at 20
Tchamambe at 19
Hall at 22
Scott is 25
I would like to see Roarke added to that list who can cover the full back line. I’m sure there’s an option for club to extend for 2026. The back line honestly doesn’t need much investment for next season. Seems we will be in the market for a few forwards more than anything. |

I’m not easy to please icon_smile.gif (I can’t see any emojis still) There’s others who share the same opinion as me, I don’t need validation though so I’m just happy to keep forming my opinion dependant on how he goes this early part of the season. I really hope he continues with this form as it will make recruitment options easier for next season the more of our current players step up. |
