| This fella is absolutely shocking , lets get rid and get Briers and Bridge in there and put a cheeky bid in for Sam Tomkins. Monas is an absolute disgrace.
I also do not think Morley is captain material and seems very quiet verbally on the field. I am sick of this apathy from this team. I am embarassed to be a Warrington fan for the first time in my life and i have seen some really bad times in the past!!!

| You could see Morley rollocking them behind the posts a few times, but I agree with Monas. No passion or desire whatsoever.

| I do agree that Monas had a shocker but I think it was just one of those nights all round - even Higham had a nightmare.
I am not so sure Briers and Bridge is the answer as Briers was nowhere to be seen tonight. He barely got stuck in. Monas at least made an effort trying to help at dummy half. To say he has no passion is misguided. I actually think he has too much - he goes on at the ref and gets angry with himself too much. He needs to calm down.

| I rate Monas, think he brings a lot defensively. And when has he ever played scrum half before?

Defensive qualities are not the first things you should be looking at in a scrum half.

| Its a funny one the Monaghan situation. Despite what some people say, he played halfback in the NRL more than he did hooker. At Canberra he was a half but mainly from the bench or back up behind Brett Finch in 2001-02 and Brad Drew in 2003. Then he signed for Manly and was first choice no.7 for two seasons, he was captain for a chunk of this, this was the time Manly started to turn around from easybeats to a good side. We were linked with him in 2005 after Orford signed for Manly (ironically enough) and he was our second choice, because we hoped he would be annoyed at being displaced by Orford. But he resigned with Manly to play hooker, so we had to go for Sullivan. When we were linked with him I looked around the Aussie forums to see what their views were on him and opinions definitely seemed to be split, some thought he was a class act while others said his kicking game wasn't very good and that he was overrated.
Then he played hooker and by all accounts was top class, the Aussies on their forums all raved about him as the centrepiece of the Manly side. Meanwhile we had Sullivan at Warrington, who had said that he was fed up with being a hooker in the NRL and wanted to go back to being a halfback, and we had found out that he wasn't good enough as a half. So it was ominous when Monaghan (who was the form hooker in the NRL at the time) announced that he was looking for a new club for 2008, which would let him return to his old position of half.
The complicating factor was that Orford then got injured, Monaghan went back to halfback for a while for Manly and started tearing everybody apart from that postion, and Phil Gould started saying on Aussie TV that Monaghan should be NSW Origin halfback. Everyone takes notice of what Gould says so the bandwagon about Monaghan started running, loads of SL clubs wanted him and we got him on a big deal. This time round the verdict on the Aussie forums was pretty unanimous that he was a great player. Given the reports on how good he played at halfback in 2007 I was confident that he wouldn't be a deja vu of Sullivan and thought this would be a great signing (didn't mark_m also famously say on here that Monaghan's arrival would be what took us the final step of the way to silverware)
Hindsight is a great thing and when he signed there was hardly any criticism, so you can't really dig at the board or Cullen for getting him in - we were all excited by the signing. The one bit of hindsight that does gall with me is that we were offered the chance to sign Brett Kimmorley and turned him down to get Monaghan, and I would have had (still would have) Kimmorley at Wire like a shot.

| Monaghan clearly isnt happy with the set up at Warrington. He stated as much when Cullen was here early doors.
However, he's dealing with that the wrong way. Instead of leading by example, he's joining the rest of them in a kind of "if they dont care, why should I bother" fashion. I could be wrong but I truly believe he's one hell of a player but simply cant motivate himself amongst our players.
It's dissapointing.
King on the other hand. I cant believe he has played in the Australian national side. I just can't believe it. I knew nothing of him in all honesty before he joined, but now he's here and Ive seen him play (and knowing bits about the NRL), I just cant fathom for the life of me how he did well out there. No defence, no attack, no positional sense, doesnt carry his weight - Very Very odd.
