| Anyone watching the Rovers game?
Kris Welham has just blatently headbutted Luke Dorn right in front of the ref (Thaler).
The ref clearly saw the incident because he penalised Welham for it and tapped on his head as an indication as to why the penalty was given.
Surely headbutting an opponent is a straight red card? Or have I missed a rule change somewhere?

| It was at the lowest end of the scale of headbutting butif Finn was binned for nothing then Welham should have gone for something more blatant.

| I'd have binned Finn too, I hate the chicken wing and cannonball tackles.
I think Thaler wasn't sure if Welham did it deliberately or not. But I'd still have sin binned him.

The TJ described as a chicken wing but it wasnt. It was a grab that caught him on the arm. There was no concerted pressure on the arm.
As for the headbutt if it was accidental it would not have ben a penalty. He penalised him for foul play and said to him "you cannot do that a headbutt". He penalised him for foul play |IMHO that should have been a sin bin as well.

| I thought the chicken wing tackle was something of nothing and it was a case if the TJ reacting to Welham throwing his toys out of pram. The RFL are too inconsistent on the cannonball/chicken wing tackles.
Dean Collis got banned last week for what I thought was nothing more than a tackle around the legs on Gaskell.
The head butt was deliberate and while it was in the lower end of the scale in terms of head butts, he wouldn't have had any complaints if Thaler produced a red as he has no excuse for head butting some one.
But I think a sin bin was a sufficient punishment. I thought referees couldn't sin bin for foul play, but how come Finn got sin binned?

| I think the TJ panicked for the Finn incident as he never actually said "chicken wing". He also said put it on report. Thaler took it upon himself to say "so it's a chicken wing?" And you could tell the TJ didn't want to say yes.
In my opinion Welham was trying to spark a response from his team mates and gee them up. Cas had just scored three tries on the bounce and rovers were wobbling. It was clever play by Welham.
The headbutt was cowardly and completely needless though and the lack of a real decision by Thaler was appalling. We know you saw it Ben cos of the headcam, we know you knew what it was cos you called it (foul play& headbutt) yet you failed to bin him; pathetic!

| Inconsistency helps no-one. You can't sin bin one player and then let someone off for an arguably worse offence.

| Looked like more of a push with the head because the Cas player was holding his hand down to stop him playing the ball; the ref's response was weak, but I guess consistent with the Morley incident in last night's game - he blatantly headbutted *and* swung a punch, but got off scot free.
The chicken wing was a bit over-stated, but Finn did put pressure on the joint; it was clear from Welham's reaction on the replay that it hurt, hence his blow-up.
