I tell you what, the Leeds Salford and the Wakey Hudds games were blo*dy dreadful adverts for SL... absolute bore fests and poor quality games.. watched some highlights of the Wakey game, it was an appalling spectacle for TV... no crowd, very one sided, poor standard of RL.. awful.
And that's why we should be very cautious about moving to 14 teams. I know 13 home games against different teams would be a big tick in the box for supporters (including me) but the novelty would soon wear off if 4 of those games were 40 or 50 point blow outs. Personally I think that if you want to raise standards you actually lower the current number of participating teams, to 11, which would provide a 21 game SL including a magic round. You could add another 3 home games by incorporating another Cup Comp (early season) perhaps on a conference basis, with championship clubs included, which would be free to season ticket holders. Why would supporters only want 21 games a season ? The whole idea of spectator sport is that the speccies work hard all week and then have something to watch and look forward on a regular basis. The more regular, the better. It ‘s time to stop kidding ourselves that everything should be aimed at a small number of pro teams prospering while the rest can go and wither on the vine. The R.F.L have done a great job of destroying the amateur game which has in turn led to a decline in professional standards, and for a long time seemed intent on destroying some of the “smaller” clubs in the professional game. Give the like’s of York and Fev a go and let their fans have a taste of the big time or at least the chance to dream. Superleague has become stale and boring for the best part, but this season has been a breath of fresh air seeing more competitive teams. The lower standard overall hasn’t bothered me one bit.

| One thing that could hurt Leeds from 14 teams is new clubs going after our young players with offers of more coin.
The terrible debacle that is Salford is a far bigger embarrassment to the game than Hudds playing 1 game at Dewsbury.
Salford going on a warm weather pre-season training camp and having the Happy Mondays playing before our game early in the year are the epitome of appalling management.
Today’s game at Hull is a joke. They will be wound up shortly after the season ends. Feel for fans, staff and players. Today is literally men v boys

Apparently, Sky aren't happy about having to broadcast an extra game that they haven't paid for. Honestly, the lack of foresight and professionalism within RL is an embarrassment. How can we ever hope to attract sponsors and broadcasters when there's no stability or professionalism.
There's been next to no communication from the people involved in this apart from the standard line of the game is losing money and we need a governing body who is sympathetic to the people with actual 'skin in the game'.
The only way this changes is if someone comes along with enough cash to buy the whole thing, or things get so bad, the owners will have no choice but to sell to the NRL for a cut price (I suspect this is what the NRL actually wants).
I'm also a bit disappointed with Hetherington and his part in all of this. I mean he's voted for this as CEO of the Rhinos whilst being the majority owner of The Broncos. There's so much wrong with all of this, I mean it doesn't give you a good hand to play with your Main Broadcaster when you suddenly change the terms of the deal without consulting them, what confidence does that give them to give us a better deal next time. Or indeed any broadcaster who may have been looking to enter the market. Doubtful, I know, but the way the game continues to be run is precisely why there is little to no interest in a halfway competitive tv deal. There is zero strategy in play, IMG were brought in to bring just that, but as soon as it didn't align with the prevailing views they have been marginalised. To compound matters, not only don't we have a well planned programme to grow the game and improve the quality, we don't even have the stability that should be the default corollary of "no change". Rushed changes with zero thought as to how they will be implemented, bringing more chaos and confusion, is hardly the blueprint for growing anything successfully. But, despite IMG, we have the Salford situation. This is really IMG's and Salfords making. How they were ever graded above London baffles me

| SALFORD!
I don't see a fair way of dealing with this mess. If we had a sensible league where you play the opposition once, home and away, you could either expunge all their points or award a walkover. You can't do that fairly with the ridiculous loop fixtures. This just illustrates what a joke the current Superleague set up is. At least in 2026 it will be a fair competition even if there are some blowout scores, it will be the same for everyone.
Although I have sympathy for the players and staff at the club the root cause of the problems are Salford's and their owners. I don't want to see them in the Superleague , Championship or league 1 next season. They should be playing in the national conference league, if at all. They have made a mockery of the competion, robbed the RFL of £400k (the advance agreed at the beginning of the season) and are simply not fit to partake. I know this seems harsh for a club with much history behind them but the problems are of Salford's own making and they need to sort themselves out, not rely on bailouts from other clubs. To think they remained in Superleague to the detriment of London, which was well run, is unbeleivable.
