Well appears that 6274 people paid to watch that game. Good for them. I suspect a lot of the BBC audience watched in the same sad way you watch news of something horrid developing and I wonder how many of the thousands of London fans that have been built up by wacthing rugby league in the capital made the trip to Leigh.

I am delighted that the Challange Cup can muster such a large crowd on a neutral ground.

The game is an embarrassment, the London club is an embarrassment (despite some very well meaning and nice people there), time for a rethink on the future of Rugby League.........oh sorry that's next year! The RfL are past being an embarrassment.

London have had 30 years "assistance" to get established and today is confirmation (if any was needed) that you can't "force expansion". London haven't progressed whatsoever. Today was embarassing for the sport and such a small crowd ...... and such a one sided match .... broadcast on Beeb 2 at 5 o'clock ...... shows how bad things have got no matter how rose tinted one's specs may be. Just makes you wonder if the RL had played a "fair game" and played the match at a more neutral venue (I suppose Sheffield springs to mind) - what would the true crowd have been. 2k? I expected a big win for Wigan but not that big, the only good thing was Bradford still have the worst semi final scoreline against 71-10 in 1992 (remember the then Northen fans going home at half time?).
Anyway back to London and you have to ask why do people say we have to have a London team in SL?

Today was why I think we don't, they have no support (yer okay it was on TV it was in Leigh and they knew they would lose but no have virtually no fans at all in a semi final game come on, I remember more Fax fans being at Wigan on a Friday night ready for another stuffing in 2003), this creates no atmosphere and they still use second rate Aussie players.
They are not a new club anymore and for a city the size of a small country they should not struggle to get support or players to play the game, but they do and always will, sadly.
Let them stay in the game sure I want new clubs outside the M62 corridor but let them drop down to our level and regroup, if they are good enough one day they will rise back to the top but please stop propping them up and ramming the 'we need London' down our throats as we plainly don't need London, today was humiliating for the game and on national TV.

Anyway, did anyone else notice the camera focussing on Tony Rea. He was rubbing his face with 2 fingers, then noticed he was on the big screen, then he appeared to "arrange" his 2 fingers into a "V" sign as he continued to rub his face? Anyone else notice?
